CEO

CAP VERMELL GRAND HOTEL

. COLOSSAL EMOTIONS .

Toni Mir, CEO of Cap Vermell Group, is one of the most influential figures in luxury hospitality in Mallorca and a benchmark in the evolution of premium tourism across the Mediterranean. His career at the helm of Cap Vermell has established him as a strategic leader with an exceptional sensitivity to both projects and people, alongside an extraordinary ability to position the resort among the world’s premier hotel destinations.

Under his leadership, Cap Vermell Grand Hotel has reached the pinnacle of international luxury, driven by the global impact of VORO—the only restaurant in the Balearic Islands to hold two Michelin Stars and three Repsol Suns. This acclaimed culinary venue is recognized by the prestigious guide for hosting two of the best dishes and desserts in the world: the «Ramallet» and the «Mahonés».

Adding to this culinary excellence, the property has been awarded the prestigious Michelin Key—a distinction it has successfully revalidated thanks to its impeccable service, placing it among the most extraordinary stays on the planet and consolidating its infrastructure and hospitality on the global scene. Furthermore, the resort has been honored with the Prix Versailles, UNESCO’s World Architecture and Design Award, placing it at the absolute forefront of contemporary design.

Toni has also been a key figure in redefining the modern concept of luxury, shifting the focus from ostentation toward curated experiences, personalization, and an authentic connection with the local environment. His philosophy, centered on the art of being the ultimate «Host», emphasizes creating emotions, anticipating needs, and building tailor-made experiences—elements that have been decisive in consolidating Cap Vermell within a highly competitive market.

From a strategic perspective, his vision incorporates a sophisticated analysis of the global context, underlining the resilience of the luxury segment in the face of geopolitical crises, the vital relevance of a sustainable tourism model, and the transition toward higher value-added propositions over price-based competition.

Toni Mir embodies a model of excellence in contemporary hotel management, seamlessly combining sharp business acumen, brand building, and a powerful narrative for the destination, thereby contributing decisively to projecting Mallorca as a global benchmark for high-end tourism.

Today, in The Ambassadors Sections, we interview Toni Mir: the Grand Host, the Artisan of the Guest Experience, and one of the executives actively redefining Mallorca’s position on the global map of luxury hospitality.

Cap Vermell is far more than a hotel—it is a comprehensive ecosystem of luxury, gastronomy, wellness, art, and cultural experiences, truly unique in the world.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Toni, thank you very much for having us today. It is a real pleasure and an honor for us to explore your strategic vision at such a milestone moment: the tenth anniversary of Cap Vermell Grand Hotel. We would love to hear your perspective on the evolution of luxury over the last decade—a period in which you have unquestionably championed emotional hospitality, elite gastronomy, and Mallorca’s leadership within the framework of sustainable luxury.

Thank you, Patricia, and thank you to The Ambassadors Sections for giving us a voice during these ten years, which have been an extraordinary adventure. Not always easy, but always exciting.

I would say that the defining factor of this past decade is the redefinition of luxury itself: today, luxury is entirely about the experience. The core focus of our work—and, by extension, the root of our success—has been driving the repositioning of Mallorca as an experiential destination, while interpreting hospitality through an emotional lens.

The expectations and desires of the premium traveler have shifted. Today’s clients are not looking for ostentation; they seek personalized experiences, local culture, world-class gastronomy, and a warm, attentive, and deeply human touch.

Our entire universe revolves around a single concept: the figure of the «Host» as our defining philosophy. A host welcomes you into their home. A host does not just manage stays; they curate emotions, experiences, and memories. A host does not wait to be asked—they anticipate.

The description I feel most aligned with is that we consider ourselves Artisans of the Guest Experience. We have been developing and integrating this philosophy since 2013, and today it stands as a fundamental pillar fully embedded in our daily operations at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel. By doing so, we have successfully bridged contemporary luxury with the psychology of service, making genuine personalization the hallmark of authentic hospitality.

I am deeply proud of our achievements, our evolution, and our market position on this 10th anniversary. However, as I always remind the team, to me every day is a new beginning. We must always look ahead, continue to improve and evolve, and work tirelessly to elevate the experience and satisfaction of our guests and all who visit us. To achieve this, we remain firmly united and aligned in this magnificent project that is rewritten every day, shaping a vision of long-term excellence.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Toni, looking back, what would you highlight from this first decade of your career, and how would you define your leadership philosophy?

Without a doubt, I would highlight the sheer passion that both the team and I pour into Cap Vermell. I bring a deep sense of passion to everything I do, and I was fortunate enough to have a great mentor, Martin Bowen, who passed away six years ago and whom I miss deeply every single day. I learned so much from him. When you encounter someone like that—someone who helps, guides, and supports you along your path—it leaves a profound mark on you. I am convinced that, in part, my enthusiastic approach to leadership stems directly from his influence.

For me, passion is fundamental. We spend too many hours of our lives working to dedicate ourselves to something we are not truly passionate about. If you do something you do not enjoy, you not only do yourself a disservice, but you also end up draining the energy of your entire environment.

Of course, I always say that we do not come to work just to make friends, but I do care deeply—and it is vital to me—about fostering a healthy work environment. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is for people to genuinely enjoy what they do.

Regarding my leadership philosophy… You have to keep in mind that I am also the father of three daughters. I love being able to act as that guiding figure—lending a hand or offering the right advice at the right time. I received that same guidance when I needed it most, and being able to project that now, both with my daughters and in my executive role with the team, is a true privilege.

Enthusiasm, passion, and gratitude—I cannot imagine a better leadership model to direct a project of this caliber…

And teamwork. Always teamwork.

I always say that I have been fortunate enough to surround myself with people who are better than I am. That is something I have always actively sought out, because I am convinced that when you surround yourself with brilliant people, they make you shine as well.

I am a strong believer in building strong, talented, and autonomous teams. It is also vital for me to instill a culture rooted in core values. We share a clear set of principles, and experience has shown that those who identify with them, stay.

People aligned with these values naturally become an integral part of the project. Conversely, those who do not feel comfortable usually end up moving on. I always say that 80% of the people who do not fit in leave on their own, and perhaps the other 20% need a little help finding their way out. However, this is healthy for the team, and thanks to this approach, we have achieved something incredibly difficult in our sector: a remarkably stable workforce in an industry plagued by high turnover.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
What are those values, Toni? What strengths best define you as a company?

Perseverance. Humility. Passion, of course. And also generosity and the desire to share. I strongly believe in teams whose members are not afraid to ask questions and who genuinely want to share their knowledge and experience with others. This is fundamental, especially when someone new joins our family.

In fact, for every new hire, we assign a little «guardian angel» during their first few weeks—someone who accompanies them, guides them, and helps them understand how we operate. This makes the onboarding process much smoother, warmer, more human, and completely natural.

Because, in the end, our vision is that at Cap Vermell, we are a family through thick and thin—for better or for worse. United, aligned, and always moving in the same direction.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Toni, tell us more about your concept of the «Host»—it is so deeply rooted in everything you do, so uniquely yours.

Yes. I have been developing this philosophy of the «Host» for thirteen years now. I started back in 2013, when my portfolio included a small boutique hotel with just twelve rooms. It was then that I realized a property like that could not be managed the same way as a large hotel chain, and I began to shape a concept I am very fond of: being Artisans of the Guest Experience.

For me, true hospitality begins at home. Anyone who welcomes someone into their home is a host. And that is exactly where this philosophy comes from—it is not a concept pulled from a business school textbook. It is something deeply intuitive, close, simple, and human. The idea is to welcome guests just as you would welcome them into your own home.

It means always putting the person first, anticipating their needs, and ensuring their stay results in a magnificent experience that exceeds their expectations. When we achieve that—which is our ultimate reason for being at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel—then we can truly say we have done a good job, that we have been great hosts.

Fortunately, the team has also fully integrated this concept. When you love the house, it is much easier to internalize and convey it. When you feel a property is your own home, you care for it, protect it, and champion it in a completely different way. Something very special happens here at Cap Vermell: so many people feel this project is truly their own.

Keep in mind that I brought this specific project from paper to reality; I have seen it be born and grow, and I have lived through the entire process. Afterward, it became my responsibility to manage it all, so the emotional bond that ties me to Cap Vermell is immense.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Toni, let’s take a beautiful retrospective look. Tell us how it all started—right from the very beginning…

Are you sure? (laughs)

Well, I was originally hired in 2009 as a consultant to help with a whole series of appeals and administrative hurdles related to the project. I started working with them, and over time, the ownership proposed that I stay on. I gladly accepted, although I set a very specific condition: I did not want to get directly involved in the construction of the hotel. I wanted to be involved in everything else, in all phases of the project… except the actual building.

The reality is that this condition was not met. I found myself deeply involved in the construction phase; in fact, I ended up taking on the role of the builder. I remember my mentor, Martin Bowen, telling me: «Toni, under normal circumstances, this should not have happened.» And I would reply, «Yes, Martin… but it has happened anyway.»

I do not know how to mix cement. But at that time, things were becoming quite complicated with the projections, with significant deviations in budgets and delivery times—and if there is one thing I am not, it is a coward. From the outside, it might have looked like pure recklessness, but to me, it felt like a deep responsibility. Faced with those complications, I could not just sit idly by, so I set up an engineering company in eleven days and started hiring people.

And that is where my great dilemma arose: Experience or youth? That was the question. So, I put together a core team of four exceptional, experienced young professionals, and for the rest… simply young talent. Because I thought: «Alright, the responsibility here is going to be mine, I assume it completely and absolutely, and I need people who know what we are doing and what we have to achieve, but I also need desire, courage, and enthusiasm.»

And in just one year, we successfully drove forward a construction project worth 64 million euros. They told us it was impossible. And we succeeded. We managed to finish on time and deliver it with the high-end quality you see today. Initially, we faced a potential cost overrun of two hundred thousand euros on a total work value of one hundred and twenty million, but we managed to successfully materialize the final phase within those sixty-four million euros. It was incredible. It is impossible to describe what I felt; it was a massive success, and I felt a profound sense of pride, both for myself and the entire team. It was a crucial stage of the project—and of my life.

This is the documentary video that captures the entire process. To watch it is to understand everything: the scale, the challenge, and the raw emotion behind what Cap Vermell Grand Hotel truly means to us:

The spectacular documentary video in which Toni Mir shares the complete journey of Cap Vermell, right from its very inception

And now, my greatest pride is seeing my team—watching how they have evolved and continue to grow, experiencing firsthand the massive qualitative leaps we are taking together.

When I gave them my opening address this year, I used a metaphor to describe us: we are a perfect choreography.

I have an amazing team.

We pour our absolute soul into Cap Vermell, and for us, true excellence lies within the emotion we create.

The truth is that this has been a beautiful experience, and a deeply intense one too. I have worked my heart out on this project—I have even lost hair along the way (laughs)—but it has been, without a doubt, one of the most defining experiences of my life.

To me, Cap Vermell is everything.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Oh It is truly moving to hear that, Toni. It has clearly been worth it, but as we know, every great project exacts a toll…

Yes, and depending on your level of responsibility and involvement, that toll can vary. However, when you are truly invested, there is always a personal price to pay, and in my case, it has been high.

But the satisfaction of seeing what we have created makes up for everything—especially when you realize that this is not just about building a hotel, but about evoking emotions, creating memories, and shaping unforgettable experiences for people.

The other day, I was discussing precisely this with Álvaro Salazar, the Chef at VORO, who is an absolute phenomenon, a true genius. We talked about the extraordinary power we hold to transform a person’s emotional state. Someone can arrive feeling sad, tired, stressed, or in a bad mood, and leave happy, serene, and deeply fulfilled. That is an incredible thing.

To me, that is the essence of true luxury.

This industry possesses a wonderful gift: it allows us to craft dreams and materialize them, turning them into reality. When you succeed in giving someone a memorable experience—one that will remain vivid in their mind many years down the road—then you know you have done your job well, and all the effort becomes worth it.

That is what we constantly strive for at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel: to make ourselves memorable. We want everyone who visits us to take away an indelible memory, an unrepeatable emotion, and an unforgettable experience that stays with them long after their departure.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Look, let me share an anecdote that perfectly exemplifies the concept of the «Host»—the very figure and philosophy that governs everything we do.

As we do every year, our Hosts reach out to our most frequent guests.During these follow-ups, they noticed that one of our most loyal, recurring customers had not visited us in two years. During the conversation, the guest shared that they had been unable to travel because they were dealing with a specific medical situation that restricted their mobility.

Our Hosts—in this case, Daniel, who made that call—took a genuine interest in their situation, inquiring about their current needs and asking if there was anything at all we could do to assist them.

Well, from that deeply human conversation—born out of a sincere concern for their well-being—came a long-stay reservation of fifteen days. Because the moment we learned of their circumstances, we immediately decided to adapt and customize their entire stay, tailoring it completely to meet their specific needs at that time.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
They returned to Cap Vermell, where we were able to pamper and care for them, allowing them to rest, enjoy, and recover in this spectacular environment. It was a single phone call that changed their lives—at least for fifteen wonderful days.

They had been unable to visit us due to the strict limitations imposed by their medical condition, but thanks to that call, to that sensitivity, empathy, and decisive proactivity—thanks to the intervention of a human being—we were able to make their return possible.

To me, that is the definition of excellence.

It is the sovereignty of humanity within a sector where everything has become highly standardized.

Of course, all leading hotel groups and major properties have their own protocols, standards, and highest-quality manuals; however, this is precisely where the figure of the Host makes all the difference and renders us truly unique.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Last year, I was very sick myself; I contracted pneumonia that became highly complicated, which has made me especially sensitive to these types of health issues.

In fact, that experience made me so aware of the importance of healthcare that I even established a medical clinic. But without steering away from Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, what I mean to say is that this personal ordeal deeply shaped my vision of excellence in service and guest care, reinforcing my belief in the vital role of individualization within the luxury sector.

Having experienced a situation so similar to what our guests were going through, we naturally did everything in our power to make their trip possible and to facilitate their stay with absolutely everything they might need.

Quite possibly, this will be the most unforgettable stay they have ever enjoyed with us.

That ability to make people’s lives easier and to ensure they truly enjoy themselves is what drives us. It is the essence of who we are and our ultimate reason for being. Furthermore, from a strategic business perspective, it is remarkable to see how individualization and humanization, far from reducing our profitability, have actually multiplied it.

Excellence in personal care and service acts as a force multiplier in our industry, especially in the luxury segment. When you care for someone this way, you turn that customer into your greatest brand ambassador—and there can be nothing more rewarding than that.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections

How beautiful Toni… And Cap Vermell also possesses something very special—the energy here feels entirely different.

Absolutely. And that is something that cannot be fully captured by photographs, videos, drones, or websites.

There are certain places that hold a distinct, unique energy, and this valley is unquestionably one of them.

Just listen for a moment… As we speak, the only sound in the background is the birds singing. The environment itself naturally balances your nervous system.

I always tell my team: Cap Vermell is a living, breathing organism.

We possess a magnificent framework—the landscape, the architecture, the setting… But without the lifeblood, which is our people, we would be nothing. They are the ones who make every stay truly memorable.

Today’s luxury traveler is seeking profound experiences and genuine emotions, and those can only be delivered by people.

That is why I believe hospitality is perhaps the most resilient sector against the rise of artificial intelligence—because we operate on emotional intelligence.

Technology can assist us immensely, of course, but the human touch remains utterly irreplaceable in true hospitality.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
That Artisanship of the Guest Experience you were speaking about earlier…

Yes, and here at Cap Vermell, there is a very distinctive «wow effect» that ripples through every single corner of the resort.

When you design a hotel, architects, interior designers, and operators constantly talk about this effect, which is traditionally sought after primarily in the reception area or the guest rooms. But at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, that impact occurs much earlier: it happens the exact moment the guest steps out of their car. That is where it all begins.

Because you arrive here and you immediately realize that this is not a conventional hotel. In fact, it resembles a small Mediterranean village, complete with its own central square, vibrant community life, restaurants, pathways, and lush gardens. The entire complex possesses the soul of an authentic Mediterranean village.

As part of the events planned to celebrate our tenth anniversary, we have organized a community race throughout the resort, with a route that winds through parts of the hotel itself. We absolutely love that because it embodies our idea of a cohesive whole—a living, breathing place. Who else can say they have vacationed at a luxury hotel that hosts a community race right within the resort grounds?

It is just another way of giving meaning to what we do. Another way to craft experiences that are entirely different. Real. Memorable.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections

Toni, it is such a magnificent concept. It is precisely this solid and well-structured foundation that has transformed Cap Vermell into a unique ecosystem—something far greater than just a hotel.

That is exactly right.

Our vision is not confined solely to Cap Vermell Grand Hotel; we strive with genuine devotion to help establish Mallorca as a global benchmark for authentic, experiential luxury—what we frequently refer to today as conscious luxury, or quiet luxury.

Mallorca deserves high-value tourism: visitors who are capable of appreciating and contributing to our commitment to environmental care, and who are eager to experience and treasure unique moments deeply connected to our essence, our traditions, our wellness, and our gastronomy.

Mallorca brings together a combination of advantages that make it a truly unparalleled place in the world: our climate, the excellent quality of our air and sea connections, the breathtaking beauty of our surroundings, and a highly diversified tourism offering with outstanding options dedicated to sports, such as golf, sailing, and wellness. Mallorca possesses every attribute needed to thrive as a luxury destination all year round, and at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, we are fully committed to continuing to drive deseasonalization.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
First-class gastronomy, for example, at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, is not conceived merely as a complement, but as a structural element and a crucial strategic engine in the positioning of the resort, with VORO Restaurant as its flagship restaurant—boasting two Michelin Stars and a natural aspiration toward a third.

Cap Vermell Grand Hotel is not only a premier tourist destination but a world-class gastronomic destination in its own right.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
VORO Restaurant represents the very raison d’être that inspires and justifies the desire for a true gastronomic journey.

VORO represents the very raison d’être that inspires and justifies the desire for a true gastronomic journey.

Elite gastronomy is a powerful catalyst for creating experiences, memories, and profound emotions, and the culinary offering at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel is far more strategic than it might appear at first glance.

For us, gastronomy is never viewed as just another hotel amenity; rather, it stands as one of the definitive pillars of our project’s identity and a prime driving force behind our international positioning.

Within our ecosystem, VORO is unquestionably our flagship—the ultimate jewel in the crown, the primary driver of international renown for Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, and a foundational strategic brand asset.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
For us, it is a tremendous privilege to host VORO Restaurant within our hotel complex. The talent and inexhaustible creativity of Álvaro Salazar, our exceptional Chef, merge seamlessly with the natural beauty of our spectacular Mediterranean environment, adding unparalleled value to our guests’ overall experience.

Moreover, the fusion of this unique experience is backed by our 2 Michelín Stars and our 3 Repsol Suns. In that regard, we never stand still: we have already set our sights on achieving the third Michelin Star, which would mark a historic milestone as the very first time this has been accomplished in the Balearic Islands.

We also hold two accolades of which we are deeply proud and which I believe are highly worth highlighting: the Prix Versailles and the Michelin Key. These are major hotel milestones that complement each other and significantly bolster our global positioning.

On one hand, the Prix Versailles underscores our relevance from an architectural and design perspective.

On the other, the hotel’s Michelin Key reinforces our caliber of excellence, extending far beyond the culinary accolades of VORO Restaurant, whose signature dishes, the «Ramallet» and the «Mahonés», have been independently honored by the aforementioned guide.

Our vision, leadership, business philosophy, and constructive ambition are built for the long term; we want to actively contribute to Mallorca becoming a premier destination, both from the perspective of luxury tourism and as an international culinary benchmark.

At Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, gastronomy does not merely accompany the journey—it IS the journey.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections

The culinary philosophy of VORO Restaurant and the gastronomic narrative of Cap Vermell are deeply committed to the environment and to our Mediterranean roots. However, I also like to define it as a highly liberating and experiential gastronomy, one where we do not confine ourselves to a single territory, but rather explore recipes from all across Spain through an innovative lens.

We do not want to pigeonhole ourselves into any specific category, because VORO represents a unique proposition that cannot be simply labeled as Mallorcan cuisine or fusion.

Instead, it is a magnificent expression of contemporary Spanish gastronomy, anchored by a powerful Mediterranean identity.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections

Our Chef VORO Restaurant, Álvaro Salazar, often says that Mallorca is his creative pantry, and that he loves to develop a cuisine with its own distinct identity, capable of offering a total sensory experience.

Gastronomy generates memory and, particularly here at Cap Vermell, that memory generates long-term loyalty and global positioning—benefiting the hotel, the resort, and Mallorca as a whole.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
The most compelling aspect of our culinary infrastructure—beyond having several dining venues within the resort—is the deliberate creation of a complete gastronomic ecosystem, meticulously designed to respond to and satisfy different emotional states and diverse guest profiles

Our offering is conceived as a journey of experiences.

Beyond VORO Restaurant, our premier international gastronomic flagship, the property has developed a curated network of restaurants, each with its own distinct atmosphere, identity, and culinary proposal.

This is designed to offer guests an authentic sensory and cultural journey through various culinary concepts.

Our intention was never to confine our gastronomy to a single style, but rather to cultivate a diverse and vibrant culinary offering capable of complementing the different moments of a stay and meeting the expectations of an increasingly discerning and sophisticated international traveler.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
BRAVO, for example, represents the essence of Spanish cuisine, reinterpreted within a space conceived as a contemporary celebration of our culinary heritage.

Its offering revolves around an approachable, social, and recognizable gastronomy, where tapas and traditional flavors acquire a refined execution meticulously tailored to a Mediterranean luxury environment.

Rather than a formal dining venue, BRAVO seeks to convey the warmest and most communal dimension of our country’s gastronomic culture: the art of sobremesa—those long, unhurried conversations around the table after a meal—anchored by celebrated products and a more relaxed yet sophisticated experience.

BRAVO embodies our deep emotional connection to the Mediterranean and to the purest concept of authentic hospitality: casual, yet high-end.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
VILLA SOFÍA, on the other hand, captures an international allure with a Mediterranean soul.

In contrast to the distinctly Spanish character of BRAVO, VILLA SOFÍA is positioned as an explicitly international concept, designed to cater to the cultural diversity of the global guests who visit Cap Vermell Grand Hotel.

Here, Mediterranean cuisine merges seamlessly with contemporary Italian and European influences, giving rise to a versatile, cosmopolitan, and elegant offering, perfectly suited for long outdoor lunches and relaxed dinners in a setting of extraordinary scenic beauty.

VILLA SOFIA beautifully reflects the evolution of today’s Premium traveler—a client who seeks local authenticity and familiarity, yet demands sophistication and diversity.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
And of course, Cap Vermell Grand Hotel also shines brightly with ROKA, the phenomenal global pop-up that transforms the Mallorcan summer.

The seasonal integration of ROKA has been one of our most successful strategic moves in recent years. It brings an internationally acclaimed concept of contemporary Japanese cuisine and robatayaki—already present in some of the world’s major culinary capitals—straight to our resort.

ROKA’s annual arrival at Cap Vermell has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the summer season, particularly among an international clientele who are already loyal patrons of its venues in London, Dubai, Mykonos, and Marbella.

This year, the ROKA Season at Cap Vermell will kick off on June 19th, and many of our guests are already counting down to the opening date to experience this magnificent venue once again. We have successfully renewed this collaboration every season for five years now, firmly establishing the pop-up as a cornerstone of Cap Vermell’s lifestyle and gastronomic programming.

ROKA’s presence beautifully demonstrates our resort’s international focus and our unique ability to integrate prestigious global brands into a deeply rooted Mediterranean experience.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
There is something that I am especially proud of over the years, and that is having contributed to breaking a very specific mental barrier within Mallorcan society.

Historically, local people practically never visited luxury hotels for lunch or dinner.

There was this lingering perception that hotel dining was something reserved exclusively for tourists.

Today, that has shifted dramatically, and I sincerely believe that Cap Vermell helped transform that mindset.

I remember perfectly that I signed the agreement for ROKA’s arrival in October 2020, right in the middle of the global lockdown.

Everyone told me I was crazy, and under those circumstances, they were probably partly right.

But at that time, I was very clear that we needed a strategic partner with massive international visibility.

We were already part of The Leading Hotels of the World, yes, but I wanted to build something even greater: I wanted to turn Cap Vermell into a true standalone gastronomic destination.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
And so came the revolution…

Literally.

The summer of 2021 felt exactly like uncorking a bottle of champagne.

Following the pandemic, there was an immense collective need to live again, to share, and to enjoy.

Suddenly, Mallorcan society began to approach the hotel—discovering it, enjoying it, and deeply appreciating the exceptional gastronomic quality that luxury properties could offer. That was the precise moment the barrier shattered completely, and I am profoundly proud to have played a part in that cultural shift.

Gastronomy is culture, and hospitality bridges people and connects civilizations. However, haute cuisine also allows you to articulate who you are, what your identity is, and how you interpret the land around you.

Today, Cap Vermell Grand Hotel and Mallorca stand as an undeniable global gastronomic destination. This is exactly why BRAVO has become what it is today, and why VILLA SOFIA has evolved into such an extraordinary concept.

Our goal was to curate a far more comprehensive and exhilarating culinary journey for our guests.

We wanted to ensure that VORO was not an isolated satellite within the resort, but rather that our entire gastronomic universe operated at that exact same level of rigor and absolute excellence, placing the guest at the very epicenter of everything we do.

And perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Cap Vermell is that there are no ego clashes among our chefs—and that is truly the most beautiful thing of all. This is something incredibly rare in our sector, yet it happens naturally here.

Álvaro cooks entirely for the guest’s enjoyment; Blai, our Executive Chef, shares that exact same mindset, and César does as well.

Everyone understands that they are not the center of attention. The absolute protagonist is always the client, and that completely shifts the dynamic, ensuring that every professional feels valued and has their rightful place within the project.

Everything we create—gastronomy, service, experience, hospitality—exists solely to generate an unforgettable memory for the people who visit us.

Here, no one competes to outshine another; each individual brings their own unique light. And together, we build something far more powerful where every piece fits together with precision, proving that the true beauty of luxury lies within the absolute cohesion of a single, shared vision.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
It is such a complete project, Toni —so solid and beautifully cohesive…

Yes, even the name itself…

Long before becoming an icon of contemporary luxury and one of the premier benchmarks of Mediterranean hospitality, Cap Vermell was already a name deeply intertwined with the landscape and natural identity of northeastern Mallorca.

The origin of the name stems from the geography of the land itself, specifically the surroundings of the Caves of Artà.

On the mountain overlooking the coast of Canyamel, there is a prominent rock formation known as «Cap Vermell»—a toponym linked to the characteristic reddish hue of its stones and cliffs, naturally tinged by the oxidation of the earth.

In Catalan, «Cap Vermell»—which translates geographically to «Red Cape» or «Vermilion Headland»—serves as a striking visual reference to the profile of the promontory facing the Mediterranean, and the rich ochre and reddish tones the rock face acquires under the light of the Mallorcan sunset.

Just like its name, this enclave represents a profound connection with the territory: sea, mountain, stone, and the Mediterranean landscape all united under a single symbol.

This union between nature, local identity, and emotional experience is the very essence that the project has preserved since its inception.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
Toni, I want to share something very heartfelt with you: I have been interviewing the world’s top executives for over twenty years, and interviewing you is proving to be quite an extraordinary experience.

You possess a truly unique energy, which is precisely why your leadership feels so solid and authentic.

Thank you very much, Patricia.

Well, I make plenty of mistakes, just like everyone else. However, I believe deeply in what I do, I believe in people, and I believe in my product.

What you are feeling is exactly what so many others experience when they come to Cap Vermell—both the guests who visit us and the team that works here.

You cannot imagine what my team means to me; they are everything. If you see them working around the resort, you will notice that they know everyone and feel a true sense of ownership over the project.

I love talent—I actively seek it out and nurture it across all my endeavors, both here and in South Africa. I like to surround myself with talent, youth, enthusiasm, dedication, and drive.

I also like to emphasize that people are shaped by their circumstances. A great waiter will never truly stand out simply because of the technical precision with which they serve a drink, but rather because of how they make the guest feel while offering it.

The guests who visit us come from vastly different backgrounds, nationalities, and life situations, each with their own set of expectations.

Because of this, we must remain dynamic, sensitive, and fully alert—capable of intuiting, interpreting, and anticipating their desires.

We must be flexible and adaptable because, within an ecosystem like Cap Vermell, experiences flow and intertwine with one another, just like in life itself.

We are human, and humans want to live.

Remember what we said before, how society worldwide reacted after the pandemic. We all broke free; we wanted freedom, human connection, and to feel truly alive.

That paradigm shift affected every single one of us, including the tourists and guests who visit us today. They are no longer just looking for a good tan. They want to connect with who we are; they want to immerse themselves in our culture, gastronomy, and traditions. They travel to engage with transformative experiences—the kind that make you feel genuinely alive.

At Cap Vermell, we enjoy a remarkably high loyalty rate because this resort is an experience that does not just seduce you; it makes you fall in love. Of course, we must first seduce our guests through impeccable service so that they choose to return—that goes without saying. However, the real way to fall in love with Cap Vermell is simply to come here, discover it, and experience it firsthand.

It is impossible for words or images to truly do justice to the sheer beauty of this environment and the unique energy of this place.

l travel constantly, always observing. I take photos of everything. I absorb an ideal amount of inspiration and then I transfer those insights to my team.

If I dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant and see something that inspires me, I share it with Álvaro.

If I discover an innovative way of managing a small detail, I try to analyze how we can adapt it here.In the end, it is about continuous learning, and that connects deeply with my understanding of leadership—because I am convinced that traditional hierarchy simply does not work anymore today.

I have always been a strong believer in the inverted pyramid model. Traditionally, when they teach you how an organization functions, they draw a triangular organizational chart: management sits at the very top, and the rest of the people are placed underneath.

I have never seen it that way. To me, management belongs at the bottom, and our frontline teams belong at the very top. They are the ones in direct contact with the customer; they are the ones who are truly going to generate and sustain the entire guest experience.

The true purpose of leadership is not to shine or to impose authority. It is to provide the team with the tools and resources they need so that absolutely nothing is missing, enabling them to ensure that every client experiences something extraordinary.

Toni Mir, CEO Cap Vermell Grand Hotel - The Ambassadors Sections
It is a remarkably unselfish vision of leadership, but as I mentioned earlier, I have always believed that you must surround yourself with people who are brighter than yourself.

There are managers who make the mistake of surrounding themselves with mediocre profiles, thinking that this will make them stand out more.

In reality, the only thing they accomplish is destroying the business.

If you are fortunate enough to encounter talent that surpasses your own, you must bring them on board immediately.

It forces you to grow, learn, and constantly improve. I am continuously learning from my team, and I genuinely love being around them.

Furthermore, the younger generations operate in a completely different way. Today, structures that are overly rigid or strictly hierarchical generate instant pushback. The contemporary workforce needs to feel heard, integrated, and valued. Organizational hierarchy today is far more horizontal than it was just a few years ago.

I managed to bring Sadhguru to Cap Vermell in 2024, when so many people told me it would be impossible.

And yet, he came.

I remember him asking me:

«How many people will there be?»

I said, «Seventy.»

And he replied, «I haven’t done an event for only seventy people since 1994.»

To which I answered, «Well, tonight you will.»

And something truly magical happened. From the very first moment, he connected with the audience in such a deeply human and authentic way that I practically didn’t intervene at all.

I understood something very important that night: I was not the star in that room. He was, along with the unique connection he was forging with the attendees.

That is leadership too—understanding when leading actually means stepping aside to make room for others.

It was an extremely exclusive and transformative event in a very intimate, small-scale format, far removed from any conventional presentation.

The objective was to open up reflections on the meaning of life, personal development, technology, humanity, consciousness, and the future. Afterward, we hosted a tasting dinner beautifully intertwined with the entire culinary concept of Cap Vermell.

The philosophy behind that gathering was to publicly signal that we want to turn Cap Vermell Grand Hotel into a space where conversations can flourish with people who are capable of contributing something positive and transformative to the world.

We want this hotel to be known not only for luxury and gastronomy, but also as an intellectual, emotional, and human meeting ground. Very few hotel brands would be capable of building that combination in such an authentic way.

For me, leadership at that moment was simply about setting the stage for an extraordinary experience at Cap Vermell. And it happened.

How wonderful, Toni. You are without a doubt a true pioneer transforming the tourism model, and the leadership model… Even the profile of the CEO has fundamentally shifted.

Well… and I believe we never truly talk about the real toll of leadership.

We speak at length about success, projects, and results, but very little about the human side behind it all. And there is a toll—a significant emotional price to pay. The loneliness of leadership can be incredibly harsh at times.

During my time at FITUR this year, I met with other executives from major luxury hotels, and they told me that many sleep with pills, while others rely on anti-anxiety medication just to cope with the day-to-day pressure.

This is almost never spoken about. Those of us in positions of high responsibility are not accustomed to sharing our struggles; we are simply not wired to do so.

Sincerely, I do not consider myself a great leader or anything of the sort. I see myself as a completely normal and highly approachable person, but the role of the CEO has evolved tremendously in recent years. The pandemic transformed everything.

Previously, it seemed that leadership was inextricably linked to rigidity, to suits, to a more formal distance. Today, I believe all of that is a thing of the past. Now, luxury is not found in a tie; it is found in how you make people feel. It is found in how you welcome someone.

The other day, I noticed a couple out here; they had just returned from playing golf, and the man was gesturing a swing while talking to his wife. I walked over, we made a joke, we laughed together… It was just a brief moment, but we connected.

In the end, that is what truly matters. People are no longer looking for scripted or overly ceremonious interactions; they seek authenticity. That is contemporary hospitality.

And you often mention another highly compelling concept, Toni: service that is present and excellent… yet invisible.

Yes. I always tell the team that a great waiter should be like a ninja: you never see them coming, yet they appear in a split second so that you never lack anything.

The water should appear before you even have to ask for it. The service must always be nearby, yet completely non-intrusive.

That demands an extraordinary level of observation, empathy, and precision.I often give the staff the example of a couple talking at a table.

I always tell them: if you need to clear a plate or remove something from the table, and if you see they are in an important moment of their conversation…do not interrupt that moment. Step back if you must. No one is going to grade the exact technical manner in which you remove a plate, but they will certainly remember if you cut off an intimate conversation. That completely changes their experience.

That is why luxury is inherently emotional, and hospitality is a constant exercise in observation, humility, and sensitivity.

It is the small gestures. The details. Holding a lady’s hand to help her step out of the car upon her arrival; perceiving and understanding exactly when to intervene and when to disappear. Everything has changed, and it will not stop changing—and it is happening at an ever-increasing speed.

My generation lived through the entire technological transition: vinyl, cassettes, Compact Discs, DVDs, iPods… The younger generations, however, were born straight into technology. This also fundamentally transforms the way we perceive work, communication, and resilience. That is why I love surrounding myself with young talent—because they speak that language fluently.

We recently conducted a highly interesting exercise at the HOA, analyzing how long it took for various technologies to achieve global expansion:

Electricity took decades.

The telephone did too.

The Internet took about ten years.

And what about Artificial Intelligence? Just about a week.

Within a matter of 3 days, ChatGPT was being utilized all over the world.

That kind of pace can make us feel quite dizzy, because I believe we still do not fully comprehend what we are facing.

Personally, I am deeply fascinated by AI. I believe that even if you are not a technical expert, you have a professional obligation to understand where all of this is heading.

In hospitality, for example, it already yields highly relevant applications. I use predictive algorithms in revenue management because they provide me with multiple real-time snapshots of the market daily, allowing us to adjust our rates with extreme precision.

Technology supports us enormously, but the human factor remains utterly irreplaceable.

AI can automate processes, but it can never replicate the authentic emotion, intuition, or human sensitivity that this profession so deeply requires.

Toni, thank you so much, it has been a truly fantastic interview, as expected, coming from you.

Do you have one last closing message?

What would you most like to highlight as a final word to our international audience?

The truth is, because I am so deeply immersed in this project and live it with such intensity, I am not always fully aware… But I genuinely feel like I am living a dream. And it is not just a personal dream, but one deeply intertwined with the destination itself.

My goal has always been to help establish Mallorca as a world-class benchmark for luxury tourism, and I am convinced that the island possesses every single element to achieve that.

Furthermore, the concept of luxury at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel carries an extraordinary historical depth. We are surrounded by prehistoric archaeological sites and a 13th-century defense tower. It is clear that humanity has inhabited and treasured this land since ancient times, and that legacy inevitably transmits a very special energy.

I want to continue positioning Cap Vermell Grand Hotel and Mallorca as a global epicenter of luxury hospitality, and I wish this is viewed not as an individual ambition, but as a collective one—a shared vision to elevate Mallorca to the absolute pinnacle of the international luxury map.

Leadership, in the end, both in business and in life, is precisely that: surrounding yourself with people who are capable of sharing and materializing a vision that is always far greater than oneself.

And to our international readers: come and discover us. Come to know us and to enjoy what we have built. Here, you will always find us ready to welcome you, to evoke your emotions, and to captivate you, all while we continue to evolve and learn. Because for us, the journey toward excellence never ends.
